About

Emberlane Play started as a group chat between a few friends who kept arguing about which mobile games were actually worth the storage space. We got tired of reading reviews that clearly came from someone who never got past the tutorial, so we decided to write our own.

Every game on this site gets real playtime. Someone on the team installs it, plays for days, takes notes on the controls, the pacing, the moments that made us smile and the ones that made us close the app. Then we write it down in a way we'd want to read.

We pick games by genre spread, not by what's trending. We want a shelf that has a tense strategy game next to a goofy racer next to a deep role-playing adventure. If a game feels empty or wastes your time, we say so.

Nobody pays us to put a game on this list. The editorial decisions are ours, for better or worse, and we'd rather be honest than popular.

Lena Hartmann — Lena has been covering mobile games for nearly a decade and still gets genuinely annoyed at bad loading screens. She leads the editorial side and plays far too much on her commute.
