Ashfall Chronicles
Ashfall Chronicles is the kind of mobile RPG that earns its length. You play a reluctant heir trying to stitch a fractured kingdom back together, and the branching dialogue genuinely changes who joins your party and which towns survive. I replayed the opening three times just to see how different the choices played out.
Combat is turn-based but brisk, with a timing mechanic on attacks that keeps you from zoning out. Each companion has a distinct role, and the gear system is deep without drowning you in menus. I appreciated that the game autosaves constantly, which matters when you're playing on a bus and your stop comes early.
It's not perfect. Some mid-game chapters drag and the map could use a fast-travel option sooner. But the writing is warm and sharp, and I kept thinking about the characters after I put the phone down. That's rare on mobile.
