Ashfall Chronicles: The Early Choices That Shape Everything
Ashfall Chronicles hides a lot behind early decisions that look cosmetic. The companion you save in the opening chapter changes which questlines open later, and I learned that the hard way by losing access to a whole region on my first run.
My advice is to treat those first conversations seriously. Talk to everyone before you commit, because the game drops quiet hints about consequences if you're paying attention. I started keeping a mental note of who seemed important rather than rushing to the next battle.
On combat, don't neglect the timing mechanic. Hitting the attack window gives a damage bonus that adds up fast, and it's the difference between a tough boss and an easy one. I spent a few minutes just practicing it against weak enemies early on.
Mostly, slow down. This is a game that rewards reading and thinking, and I had my best time when I stopped treating it like something to finish and started treating it like something to live in.
